Step one, in detail
Thirty-two lines across our core shapes, each cut again and again in the same much-loved fits. Every one is a starting point, not a finished product.
Every piece below is a core shape. Pick the shapes you want, then pick the fabric each one is printed in.
Any shape can be cut in any of our prints, so the same dress is a different dress in a different cloth. The photograph on each card is one example, not the only way it comes.
Every card shows what you pay per piece and what it is meant to sell for, for each of the two printing processes.

Once you have chosen the shape and the fabric, choose the ages. We cut any age from 0 to 10 years, other than on selected styles that are made to a narrower range.
Any age across the ladder, on any style that is cut for it. Remi Romper is cut 0–10 years; Noor Romper, Kavi Romper and Mina Romper are cut 0–3 years; every other shape runs 1–10.

Step three, in detail
Both are done by hand, by the same workshops. They just give you different things.

Traditional techniques. Timeless magic.
A craft handed down through generations of Rajasthani printers. The design is carved by hand into a block of teak, one block per colour, then dipped in dye and pressed onto the cloth, lined up against the last impression by eye. A two metre length takes hundreds of impressions, and no two ever fall quite the same.

Playful prints for bright futures.
The design is exposed onto a mesh screen, laid over the cloth and flooded with dye by hand. The screen carries the whole repeat at once, so a length that takes a block hundreds of hand impressions takes a handful of pulls.
Screenprint costs less because it is quicker, not because it is lesser. Blockprint gives you the hand of the maker in every piece; screenprint gives you twenty dresses that match. Ask us which suits your order.

Founder of Genki
I grew up surrounded by textiles, rummaging through my French grandmother's wardrobe and cupboards filled with vivid silks, prints and beautiful old fabrics. As an artist, I've always been drawn to colour, pattern and handmade craft, particularly textile traditions that carry a real sense of history and place.
A trip to Rajasthan introduced me to the extraordinary world of hand block printing and the makers behind it. I began working with small independent tailors and fabric traders there, relationships that continue today. Learning about the artistic textile printing crafts, and small handmade clothing batches, I became passionate about creating quality and story-led clothing.
Genki was born from wanting to bring that love of craft into clothes people actually wear: vibrant, playful pieces with real character. Beautiful prints, joyful colour and traditional techniques, cut in small batches by the same makers I had met in Rajasthan and work with still.
People kept asking whether we could make the same colourful, joyful clothes for children too, and Genki Kids was born.
For the last three years we’ve had a shop on London’s Southbank, and we stock English Heritage and independent retailers across the country. We’re now looking for more brilliant shops and partners to grow with.

Genki Kids is a wholesale range of handmade children's clothing from Genki Designs. The clothes are designed in London and hand printed and sewn by skilled artisans in Rajasthan, India, on pure cotton. Everything is made to order for independent shops rather than held in stock.
Once you have chosen the shape and the fabric, choose the ages. We cut any age from 0 to 10 years, other than on selected styles that are made to a narrower range. The ladder runs 0–3m, 3–6m, 6–9m, 9–12m, 1–2, 2–3, 3–4, 4–5, 5–6, 6–7, 7–8, 8–9, 9–10, written as age spans the way the swing tags write them. The rompers are cut 0–3 years; every other shape runs 1–10.

Orders are made to order in Rajasthan and usually arrive in four to eight weeks.

Wholesale and recommended retail prices are published on the Genki Kids wholesale page, per piece, for both hand blockprint and screen print. UK opening orders start at £500. For stockists outside the UK the minimum is confirmed on enquiry, and import duty is payable by the stockist. The line sheet is the full catalogue with the order codes, and Genki will send the current one on request.
